Wanderlust

Midwest winters mean days cooped up inside avoiding icy roads and sub-zero wind chills. Last night, I was overcome by a sense of wanderlust. I felt compelled to get out of the house, even out of the state or out of the country and to go explore, wind up somewhere new and just take it all in. It was probably partly induced by all the pinterest boards and travel blogs I was browsing, but nevertheless, I was overcome by a need to be somewhere new, see something different and get away from dreaded midwestern winters.

I’ve always loved to travel. I’m down for anything from road trips and camping to flying to Europe. But as my list of “places I’ve been” expands, so does my list of “places I want to go”. At the top of my “places to go list” are places like San Francisco, Bali, London, Senegal, Madagascar, New York, Uruguay. And those are just some at the top of my list; I could go on and on listing countries and cities I want to visit and cultures I want to be immersed in.

This summer we’re taking a trip to Italy (hence the travel book open to pictures of Venice). I have never been anywhere with such a seemingly magical aura and reputation as Italy, and just thinking about traveling there seems too good to be true. Hopefully the trip will inspire more travel-centric blog posts, and I cannot wait to share with you the adventures I have in Italy and in other places I visit while fostering my wanderlust.
